When she was 15, Allison decided she wanted to be Howard Stern. A radio shock jock with a foul mouth.
However, after graduating from the Media Productions Program at Brandon’s Assiniboine Community College, she found herself drawn to storytelling of a slightly more sophisticated nature – she wanted to be a news reporter.
And so she was. For nine years, Allison told stories in Brandon’s news media market – first on radio and then in print. That storytelling then parlayed into a career in municipal communications.
Allison and fellow Brandon Industry Group member Danielle Adriaansen collaborated in 2012 to produce “From Dirt to Dinner: The Community Agriculture of Aagaard Farms” for MTS TV. You can watch it on MTS TV’s Stories From Home channel, or check it out on YouTube.
After an extremely successful BIG collaboration on “patchworks 1”, Allison is excited, once again, to be back as a producer for “patchworks 2” … working to share the stories of her community with her community!
